Small Packages
Small packages was started as a way for friends to stay connected that are not nearby. The owner, Julie Schechter, has friends across the country and she wanted a way to let them know she was thinking about them. Small packages has a variety of gift boxes that you can send to a girlfriend. She has boxes for 15+ different occasions (including not great ones like a break-up). Whether a friend is getting married, you want to say I miss you, or you feel like she needs a little self-care, Julie has you covered.

Her boxes come in 3 different sizes so you can choose your price point. I sent one of these boxes to my best friend who lives in New Orleans, LA. I haven’t seen her in 2 years and miss her greatly. She loved getting a box of high-quality products and knowing that I was thinking of her. Julie also does amazing cards too!

Just Short and Sweet
Take a look at this beautiful wreath that I received from Just Short and Sweet! I chose red so I would be ready for the holidays. It is extremely lightweight and is hand-made. Read more about Blythe and her crafty woman-owned small business below!

Introduction
Hi there! My name is Blythe, and I am the owner, designer, and maker behind Just Short and Sweet, modern home decor and jewelry. I grew up in Southern California in an artistic household. My dad and one of my brothers are artists. My mom was an Art History major in college. They instilled in us an appreciation and love of art early on. I have always been crafty and creative. I loved making collages in high school and making handmade cards for friends while in college. More recently I have been honing my hand lettering skills…just for fun!

A few years ago I stumbled upon an amazing geometric wreath sculpture online, and just had to learn how to make it. After some research, I found out it was inspired by Himmeli, traditional Finnish ornaments made of straw, usually rye. As soon as I completed my first wreath I was hooked! I love how ornate they are, and how easily they can add texture and interest to a space. I am drawn to happy colors and geometric shapes, so it was a match made in heaven.
10% of all shop sales go to support a primary school in Uganda, Africa. My Dad and I first visited the school in a little village called Bukasa 10 years ago. We fell in love with the people there and created a nonprofit to help support the school. The nonprofit, called iheartBukasa, helps raise funds to provide teacher salaries, school supplies, and children’s uniforms and shoes. We also contribute to the school’s “Pig Project,” a sustainable source of income the village maintains that benefits families significantly. Visit bukasa.org for more information!
